About me
August M. Ball is the founder of Cream City Conservation, the first Black woman-owned business in Wisconsin to earn B Corp certification, working at the intersection of organizational development and environmental conservation. With over 20 years in youth program management and a decade running her own firm, she partners with environmental organizations and outdoor education programs nationwide, consulting on hiring and retention strategy and training staff to build workplace cultures that attract and retain diverse talent. She has worked with the U.S. Forest Service, Wisconsin DNR, Student Conservation Association, YMCA, and The Nature Conservancy, connecting thousands of young people to employment, outdoor recreation, and land stewardship.
August holds a BA in Sociology with minors in Race and Gender Studies from UW-Parkside and UW-Milwaukee, plus graduate certificates in Community Education and Nonprofit Management. She was appointed by Governor Evers to the Wisconsin State Climate Task Force in 2019.
Now based in Quintana Roo, Mexico, August travels regularly for engagements across the US. She also hosts restorative retreats for burnt-out change-makers in Mexico and the Philippines, and speaks Visayan, Tagalog, and English fluently, with intermediate Spanish.
